Annual Reports

Earthjustice

As the most significant environmental law nonprofit in the U.S. with an extensive donor base, Earthjustice develops a substantive annual report to provide insight to key initiatives, victories, financials, and partnerships every year. As a key digest of the broad and critical progress they are making in environmental litigation, the report is a key distillation of the organization’s year in review for donors.

For almost ten years, Xuanlana led the creative management and workflow of an extremely rigorous process in the report’s production cycle, leading and aligning several stakeholders and production teams to meet critical year-end deadlines. Not only anchoring the project logistically in the workflow, Xuanlana provided key creative leadership and art direction to help meet the vision and the tone of the time for each individual year while also honoring the ethical storytelling of partner work and maintaining the highest sustainability standards in production.

Quarterly Magazine

EARTHJUSTICE

For over eight years, Xuanlana art directed and led the production of the Earthjustice quarterly magazine with a circulation of 100k and growing. She worked with the Earthjustice Editorial, Photo, Design teams—as well as proofreaders, printers, illustrators, and photographers to produce a high-quality, high volume magazine over a three month production cycle

From initial story pitches to art assignments all the way through rigorous internal review and approvals, including fact-checking, proofreading, proofing, and press check, Xuanlana would lead and align an ever evolving team of creative producers to create a 36 page full-color magazine that helped reinforce and expand the organization’s voice as the expert in environmental policy.

In contextualizing the most high-profile, contentious, and often complex issues in our time around climate and environmental justice, Xuanlana had to engage particular considerations around ethical storytelling and often distillation of dense content.
